Moses Shumah and Power Dynamos’ search for a maiden win in the CAF Champions League group stages tie stretched to the second clash after suffering a solitary goal defeat to Egyptian side Pyramids on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

The Kenyan international entered the fray as a substitute on the hour mark, moments after the visitors had taken a lead through Mohamed Reba.

The Zambian champions hoped to turn the tide around in the second tie of the group stages on their return to Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, but proceedings proved tough.

Fire blanks

Their bid was further hampered by top scorer Shumah starting on the bench in what was head coach Oswald Mutapa’s usual rotation policy, rather than an injury precaution.

The clash kicked off on a lively note, but neither side managed to get an early advantage heading to the break.

Moments after Pyramids took the lead, Fiston Mayele went closer to doubling the lead but was kept out by an alert Lawrence Mulega at the hosts’ goal.

Mulenga came out clutch again moments later, producing a crucial save in the 70th minute when he stretched high to deny the Egyptians a second goal.

Shumah had a rare sight at goal in the 81st minute after being set through by Owen Tembo, but his shot was skied.

Bottom of standings

The results compounded a second defeat on the trot for the reigning Zambian champions, who fell to a humbling 3-0 loss to Berkane in their opening tie of the group stages.

Power is at the bottom of Group A with no points, six behind joint leaders Pyramids and Berkane RS.

The team will next face Rivers United from Nigeria in a must-win third tie of the group before travelling for a return clash against RS Berkane.

Shumah, who is the reigning Kenya Premier League top scorer, joined Power at the start of the season from Kakamega Homeboyz.

The attacker has been on a fine showing as the club started the 2025 season on a high. Among his standout club moments are his brace against Npasa Stars and goals against Vipers SC in the second round stage of the CAF inter-club competitions.

He led the league scoring charts with 17 goals, a feat earning him a move to the record-time Zambia champions.
