Bus ferrying AFC Leopards supporters overturns in Timboroa

A bus linked to Latema commuter services providers in Nairobi routes ferrying Football Kenya Federation Premier League side, AFC Leopards supporters, has been involved in a road accident in the Timboroa area.

Based on the statement shared on Facebook by AFC Leopards Chairman Boniface Ambani on Sunday night, December 28, 2025, several occupants of the bus sustained injuries with no fatalities confirmed.

Timboroa accident

”A Latema bus carrying AFC Leopards SC members has been involved in an accident at Timboroa, several members have been injured. Our prayers are with them. I pray for the quickest recovery of the injured. In my prayers.  Poleni saaaana,” Ambani said.

The accident adds to the many that have occurred in the festive season, where tens of lives have been lost amid increased travelling activities across the country.

Meanwhile, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a nationwide alert warning road users to be cautious on the roads following ongoing heavy rainfall and foggy conditions affecting several parts of the country.

In a statement released on Sunday, December 28, 2025, the Authority said the adverse weather has significantly increased road safety risks, citing reduced visibility and slippery road surfaces as major concerns.

NTSA warning

“Ongoing heavy rainfall and foggy conditions are affecting some parts of the country, significantly heightening road risks due to reduced visibility and slippery surfaces. We strongly urge drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians, and cyclists to exercise extreme caution,” NTSA wrote on X.

NTSA’s statement comes against the backdrop of the Kenya Meteorological Department warning of widespread rainfall expected to affect large parts of the country.

In a weather advisory shared on X on Sunday, December 28, 2025, the department outlined areas likely to experience rain over 24 hours, raising concerns for residents in flood-prone and low-lying areas.

In the particular forecast valid from Sunday, December 28, 2025, starting 9:00 am to Monday, December 29, 2025, at the same time, most parts of the country will remain wet.

Wet period

”Rainfall is expected over several parts of the country during the period from 0900 hrs on 28th December 2025 to 0900 hrs on 29th December 2025, as illustrated in the forecast map.  Areas likely to receive rainfall include: The Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, the Lake Victoria Basin, parts of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Coastal region. Residents in areas experiencing persistent or heavy rainfall are advised to remain alert, particularly in flood-prone and low-lying areas.” The Department said.

The advisory comes at a time when many people are travelling, hosting family gatherings, or engaging in outdoor activities during the festive season, making weather conditions a matter of public safety and daily planning.
