The Kenya Red Cross has announced that an unknown number of people are trapped in rubble after a building collapsed in Kaptebeswet Bybass in Kericho County.

In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, the Kenya Red Cross confirmed that emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the scene to assist with rescue efforts.

“A building has collapsed in the Kaptebeswet Bypass area in Kericho County,” the Red Cross stated.

Authorities have warned that several individuals may still be trapped under the debris as rescue operations continue around the clock.

“Several people are feared trapped under the debris as rescue operations have begun,” the statement added.

Emergency responders have already managed to evacuate some victims, providing hope that more lives can be saved as efforts intensify.

“Response teams are on site, with four individuals successfully rescued so far,” the Red Cross reported.
