Bondo United FC players involved in road accident en route to Naivasha

Bondo United have confirmed they were engaged in a road accident on their way to Naivasha to face Sunderland Naivasha in a Football Kenya Federation Division 1 Zone B match on Sunday, October 22, 2023.
The club said the injured players were rushed to Fort Ternan Hospital in Kericho County. The Division One outfit has, however, yet to confirm the number of injured players and members of the technical bench.
“Injured players are getting medical assistance at Fort Ternan Hospital. No fatal casualties. Lord of second chances, thank you once again,” the club’s statement read.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga was among the first high-ranking public leaders to react to the news.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured Bondo United players as they recover from today’s accident near Kericho while en route to Naivasha for a football match,” Raila said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter.
Siaya County Governor James Orengo also sent his message, hoping that the injured players would recover quickly.
“To the injured Bondo United players, you are all in my thoughts and prayers as you recover from the accident you had today around Kericho on your way to Naivasha for a football match,” Orengo said.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League side KCB also reacted and said there were no fatalities involved.
“Prayers to the players and technical staff of Bondo United FC who were involved in a road accident early today on their way to Naivasha for a Division 1 match.
“There are no fatalities, and the injured are receiving treatment. Quick recovery to all who are injured,” the club’s statement read.
