Azimio La Umoja camp rails at Ruto, allies for disrespecting Uhuru

A section of leaders allied to Azimio La Umoja yesterday cautioned Deputy President William Ruto and leaders in his camp against hurling abuses at President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Azimio group told Ruto and his team that President Kenyatta, as holder of the highest office in the land, deserves respect.
The leaders, who included Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho, Kieni MP Kanini Kega, Sabina Chege, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Stanley Muiruri Muthama (Lamu) and the chairman of Raila’s election Board, Ndiritu Muriithi, who is also Laikipia governor, were speaking when they took the Azimio campaign to Laikipia West.
They addressed meetings at Ol Jabet, Maili Saba and Nyahururu town.
Ole Kina warned Kenyans and members of the Kikuyu community in particular not to gamble with their future by voting for Ruto in the forthcoming elections.
“Ruto has been abusing the President and it would be bad for “Nyumba ya Mumbi’ (House of Mumbi) to vote for someone who is abusing their son,” Ole Kina said.
The Senator said a Raila Odinga presidency will bring goodies to Kenyans including social support to the poor families. Sabina said they have refused to be drawn to the culture of abuses being perpetrated by those on DP’s side.
Junet said the Ruto group had run out of ideas, reason they thrive on hurling abuses at the President and Azimio side. He claimed that the Ruto camp was planning to cause chaos if the DP loses in the elections. He told ICC to take note and take action if need be. The Suna East MP cautioned Kenyans against electing Ruto to be fifth President saying he can change the constitution to remain in power forever.
Joho on his part warned Mt Kenya region not to make the mistake of voting for Ruto saying electing the DP would be the start of a long-suffering for Kenyans.
Joho advised the people of Mt Kenya region not to fall into the trap of disrespecting their leaders like it has happened in the Coast for many years. He said good leaders in the Coast are always pulled down by their own.
Cursed generation
He cautioned youths in the region against being used to abuse the President saying a generation that does not respect its elders is a cursed generation.
“I believe people of Mt Kenya are intelligent people who cannot be misled to vote for Ruto,” Joho said.
In Nyeri, two ODM party factions in the county have traded barbs over the planned National Delegates Conference (NDC).
One faction, affiliated to presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi demanded for cancellation of the NDC slated for February 24 and 25.
Led by Peter Thubuku who claimed his faction represents delegates from the entire Mount Kenya region, cried foul that the NDC may most likely disadvantage Wanjigi who is their favourite aspirant for the top seat.
“We are privy to the agenda of the NDC and we can confidently say that the election of the ODM party flag bearer is not one of them. We are therefore demanding for its cancellation until such a time when we shall strike an agreement,” he said.
