Easter celebrations
Kenyan Christians are expected to flock to different churches across the country to celebrate since Sunday marks Easter, one of the most sacred holidays of the year in Christian tradition.
Easter is meant to celebrate the good news of Jesus’ resurrection and occurs at the end of the Holy Week, which begins on Palm Sunday and ends on Holy Saturday, comprising the seven days before Easter Sunday.
President William Ruto joined other leaders in sending a message of goodwill to Kenyans during the Easter holidays.
In his message on Friday, April 18, 2025, Ruto cautioned Kenyans on the road during the holidays to be careful to prevent road accidents.
“Please be safe on the roads and be blessed. To all families, all the friends and every Kenyan, Happy Easter,” Ruto stated.
In a twist of events, Ruto decided to share this year’s Easter message through TikTok.
Catholic Archbishop Martin Kivuva of the Mombasa Holy Ghost Cathedral, in his Good Friday message, also urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads to prevent accidents.
Junior Starlets vs Cameroon
Kenya’s Junior Starlets will be back in action today, Sunday, April 20, 2025, when they host Cameroon in the first leg of the third round of the 2025 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers at Nyayo Stadium.
The Mildred Cheche-coached side heads into the crucial fixture with an impressive six-match unbeaten run in the qualifiers, carrying high hopes of advancing further.

Junior Starlets, who broke the glass ceiling in Kenyan football last year by participating in the World Cup in the Dominican Republic, have begun another campaign in search of a second milestone. They thumped Uganda 5-0 on aggregate last month to advance.
Edinah Nasipwondi and Joan Ogola struck in Kampala for a 2-0 win in the first leg before Patience Asiko and Brenda Achieng sealed the Teen Queens’ dominance with a scintillating 3-0 victory in front of home fans at Nyayo Stadium.

As usual, those allied to the opposition side will be responding to various remarks made by the government-allied political leaders, with those in government also expected to continue telling off the critics.
