PHOTOS: Mudavadi meets Chinese investors interested in exploring Kenya

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi who doubles up as Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has met several Chinese investors interested in exploring business opportunities in Kenya.

Mudavadi who is in Beijing, China ahead of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, on Monday, September 2, 2024, revealed that he had held a series of meetings in which he engaged the investors.

Taking to his official X account, Mudavadi said the Chinese investors are keen on advancing Kenya’s infrastructure and technological landscape.

“Ahead of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, a pivotal gathering where China collaborates with African leaders to strengthen mutual partnerships, I held a series of meetings with Chinese investors keen on advancing Kenya’s infrastructure and technological landscape,” Mudavadi stated.

Among the firms that featured in Mudavadi’s meetings are Huawei Technologies, China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), China CAMC Engineering, and China Power Engineering Consulting Group.

Mudavadi stated that Huawei is enhancing digital hubs nationwide to empower youth through digital entrepreneurship.

While lauding CRBC as a key player in rail and road construction, Mudavadi pointed out that China CAMC Engineering had expressed its interest in energy and industrial park development in Kenya.

During the meetings, China Power Engineering Consulting Group expressed interest in infrastructure projects related to green energy, urban development, water and the digital economy.

According to Mudavadi, several other firms explored opportunities in energy solutions, electric vehicles and medical equipment manufacturing.

“China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), a key player in rail and road construction, and China CAMC Engineering, with interests in energy and industrial park development, also participated,” Mudavadi stated.

“Additionally, China Power Engineering Consulting Group expressed interest in infrastructure projects related to green energy, urban development, water and digital economy while other firms explored opportunities in energy solution, electric vehicles and medical equipment manufacturing.”

Mudavadi landed in China just moments before President William Ruto’s arrival, with Kenya expected to lobby for additional financial and technical support for key sectors.

President Ruto is leading the Kenyan delegation in attending the China-Africa Cooperation  (FOCAC) Summit, which will be held from Wednesday, September 4, 2024, to Friday, September 6, 2024.
