Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho and his Treasury counterpart John Mbadi have made considerate changes in their dockets by announcing fresh appointments.
The new appointment published on the Kenya Gazette comes just days after several other CSs also instituted a raft of changes to enhance service delivery in their dockets.
In the notice, CS Joho appointed new members to the Artisanal Mining Committee of Bomet County and Nakuru for a period of three years.
According to the notice, the appointments took effect on Friday, September 13, 2024.
In the Bomet Artisanal Mining Committee, Joho appointed Benard Tonui, Maurice Amalemba, Samuel Kipkemoi Yapai, Weldon Kipng’eno Tonui, Lawi Cheruiyot, Sylvanus Too, Samuel Ngaanga, and Biliah Chepkirui.
In Nakuru, Joho Kennedy Mungai, Mourice Amalemba, Jane Njeri Ng’ang’a, George Gitau Kimani, Simon Saitoti Lekoora, and Sylvanus Too, among others.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that pursuant to Section 94(2) of the Mining Act, the following members have been appointed to the Artisanal Mining Committee of Nakuru County for a period of three (3) years, with effect from September 13, 2024,” the gazette notice read in part.
The former Mombasa Governor also made similar changes to the Artisanal Mining Committee of Nandi, where he toured after appointment and came face-to-face with the wrangling groups regarding mining issues.
Mbadi’s changes
Mbadi, who was among the CSs who announced changes on September 6, 2024, pushed a step further by making another round of fresh appointments.
In the latest dispatch, Mbadi appointed Okochil Martha Opisa to be a member of the Sports, Arts, and Social Development Fund Oversight Board for a period of three years, with effect from September 13, 2024.
Further, Mbadi appointed Stephen Ngowa Masha, Rispher Olick, Edwin Nyaga Njamura, and John Githinji Njoka to be members of the Public Sector Accounting Standards Board for a period of three years, taking effect from September 13, 2024.
The latest appointments are expected to enhance service delivery at their respective dockets.
In other changes, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has published the composition of the National Steering Committee to oversee the implementation of reforms in the National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, and the National Youth Service.
Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa, on the other hand, has picked Lucy Wanjiku Njenga to be a member of the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council for a period of three years.
