Fangs out for good food – Fang Fang Restaurant Lavington
I love good food. I love money too. So, when I can get good food without hurting my pocket, I am over the moon, probably with a distended stomach from all the overeating.
Fang Fang Restaurant located in Lavington off Mbabane Road is one such place. I have been here more times than I can count. The outer fencing is marked with red Chinese lanterns as if to herald a grand eating experience to come.
They serve real Chinese tea! I always order it before my meals, mainly because it is authentic. That it comes with crackers and groundnuts is an added boon. I am a sucker for their baby pork ribs, which have a surfeit of onions and are at times garnished with sesame seeds.
I often order them for my niece, since she is a baby, and for myself, since I am a kid. Just kidding! Enough puns, but not nearly enough about food. So if baby pork ribs are not exactly your jam, feel free to order Szechuan chicken or pork with cashew nuts.
Their noodle plates are quite generous. I, the grand hog of all, cannot finish one, so probably neither can you. So, order different noodle helpings to share, say chicken noodles or pork noodles. They also have good vegetarian options ranging from vegetable tempura to steamed spinach.
And lest you think you have to take green tea while dining here, know that you can have soda or juice. To top it all off, if you are lucky, you can get free ice cream for dessert.
Better still, there is ample playing space outside, complete with sliding sets and a trampoline to ensure the young charges expend their energy while you indulge in your food. This above all else is the reason I choose the joint every time!
