Rigathi Gachagua: By 10am on election day, Ruto will be history

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that President William Ruto will have already lost the 2027 General Election by the time polling stations break for lunch, stating with full confidence that by 10:00 am, the outcome will be completely sealed.
Speaking on Sunday, May 25, 2025, during a church service at AIPCA Kihoya in Kangema, Murang’a County, Gachagua said that the people of Kenya are ready to vote overwhelmingly, and that the verdict against Ruto will be so clear it shall not require waiting late into the night.
“Even by the time they will be breaking for lunch, we will have already sent him home, and by 10:00 am, the entire country will have spoken loud and clear,” he said, suggesting that the shift on the ground is strong enough to deliver a sweeping result before dusk.
Gachagua insisted that the decision will be made early and decisively, adding that Kenyans are not confused about what they want in 2027, and that the mood across the country already signals the closing of one chapter and the opening of another.
He went on to say that the election will not be a close contest but a clear message from the people, saying that his confidence comes directly from what he hears in counties across the nation, where citizens are speaking plainly about the need for fresh leadership.
“By 10:00 am, even before they finish counting, we will have turned the page; it will be a clean sweep because I know people like you from here in Muranga will not let me down. I am counting on you greatly,” he added.

Gachagua also stated that the public is no longer moved by long promises but rather by practical realities, and that they will vote based on what they have seen and experienced rather than what they are told.
He said that everywhere he visits, ordinary citizens are voicing the same concerns and expressing the same hope — that 2027 will mark a return to leadership that listens, understands, and acts.
“The people are no longer swayed by lofty promises — they want results they can see and feel. Everywhere I go, Kenyans are saying the same thing: come 2027, they want leadership that listens, understands, and delivers.”
Bribes ahead of 2027
Further, Gachagua spoke in scathing terms about Ruto, declaring that he is increasingly desperate and has now resorted to dishing out bribes in a frantic bid to court political favour.
He claimed that Ruto had recently confronted Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu with KSh10 million to persuade him to switch allegiance and join Kenya Kwanza, but insisted that Nyutu declined the offer because he does not wish to be associated with Ruto’s tainted and scandal-ridden regime.
“For instance, this Nyutu was summoned by Ruto and offered KSh10 million to betray Mt Kenya, but he refused because it is a tainted government. That alone proves he is a principled and honourable leader.”
Gachagua then insisted that his support now lies with leaders like Nyutu who are prepared to confront Ruto head-on and reject his bribes, because they must remain firm as they look ahead to unseating him in 2027.
He further cited Embakasi North MP James Gakuya as another leader who continues to make him proud, stating that he deeply admires how the MP had recently spoken out fearlessly against Ruto in light of the controversial demolitions taking place in Nairobi.
He added that he draws encouragement from witnessing such bold actions from these leaders, and reiterated that Gakuya is one of the people he would back without hesitation.
“Those are the kind of leaders I now want. I earnestly plead with you. Another one—Gakuya—who is contesting the gubernatorial seat in Nairobi, has stood with the people as their homes were being razed to the ground. He confronted Ruto without fear, warning him and daring him to take whatever action he wishes. Those are the leaders I stand with. I cannot carry this tribe’s burden alone. The party is united. We are on course to having over 130 Members of Parliament. That will be instrumental in ensuring no one can again arbitrarily remove an elected leader, because we shall command authority within Parliament,” he added.
