EAC-IPG Games: Top-performing Kenyan MPs and senators
The concluded edition of the 2025 Interparliamentary Games saw the members from Kenya showcasing their sporting excellence.
The annual games provided a rare glimpse of the MPs’ and senators’ passion for sports.
The standout performances included Kenya powering to a strong victory in athletics and a gold medal haul in the volleyball discipline.
Kenyan lawmakers clinched gold in the 4x400m relay, 100m sprint, and 800m courtesy of Kacheliba MP Titus Lotee and Busia women’s representative Catherine Omanyo.
People Daily Digital has compiled a list of the outstanding individual members from the games:

Dan Wanyama: The former volleyball star stunned Ugandans with his powerful spikes and all-around display that mirrored his former trade as a professional volleyballer.
Among the cruising wins of the volleyball team are the sweeping 3–0 set wins over Rwanda and the 3–1 set win over Uganda.
Volleyball win
Against Uganda, Wanyama left Ugandan MPs wondering what business a ‘professional player’ had in a match reserved for members.
Other members of the triumphant volleyball team were Paul Nzengu, Brighton Yegon, Duncan Maina, Victor Koech Mandazi, Alfred Mutai, Josses Lelmengit, Jackson Mandago, Robert Basil, Seki Ole Lenku, and newly elected UDA senator for Baringo, Vincent Chemitei.

The Busia County Woman Representative, Hon. Catherine Omanyo, not only starred on the offensive line of the basketball team but also doubled up as a sprinter.
Omanyo bagged Kenya’s gold medal in the 100 m races, finishing ahead of host Ugandan MP Auma and Mukabalisa of Rwanda, who came third.
Phylis Bartoo: The Moiben MP is another excellent member of the parliamentary athletics team. A true sports enthusiast, she competed in various women’s races.
Bartoo earned silver in the 1500 m with a time of 8:37.8 and also competed in the 400 m race, where she was placed fourth with a time of 1:55.1.
She was among the few athletes recognised by the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) following their respective performances.
