Zack Kinuthia urges DCP to withdraw from Ol Kalou race in support of Jubilee candidate
The Jubilee Party has stepped up its campaigning to mobilise political backing for its parliamentary campaign in the Ol Kalou seat, urging other political parties to withdraw in the process from its stated political agreement to foster unity for the by-election.
Speaking in an interview with a local TV station on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Jubilee Deputy Secretary General Zack Kinuthia has asked the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and the Party of Labour and Progress (PLP) to rethink their involvement in the race, noting that the parties are still in talks, while there is hope of them cooperating.
“We are all together, together, and we await a gesture from DCP and PLP; in fact, the latter seems to have withdrawn their candidate. We are now left with DCP having to make a decision and withdraw their candidate for the seat, which is traditionally theirs in Nyandarua, so that we can field ours because this seat is Jubilee’s,” Kinuthia said.

He said Jubilee was sure of its right to the Ol Kalou seat, saying that past political engagements should be respected to avoid unnecessary competition between the aligned groups. He also pointed out that the party had already decided on Wilson Kigwa as their preferred candidate in the constituency.
Jubilee candidate to submit nomination papers
Zack further noted that Jubilee’s candidate for Ol Kalou is expected to formally file his nomination papers with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

He said the reason for submitting later than other contenders from the other parties was that he was in Kiambu attending a meeting of supporters from the Jubilee Movement, which was very important for final preparations within the party.
Declaration of vacancy
The Olkalou seat was declared vacant by the Independent ElectoralIndependent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) following the death of its long-term serving member of parliament, David Njuguna Kiaraho, who was elected on a Jubilee ticket in the 2022 general elections and was serving on his third term. The by-elections to fill this void are slated for June 16, 2026.
