Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has told off the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party over anti-government protests.

Speaking in Mombasa when he met Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, Mudavadi said that Kenyans should not disrupt the economy at a critical moment when it is picking up.

“We cannot afford to disrupt the economy. Let us move forward. Election cycles have their constitutional timings (and) we have just come out of it six months ago we need to move forward as a nation. We cannot keep going back to an issue that has been canvased up to the highest court in the land,” he said.

“It has been dealt with fully and we want to make it very clear that we are a unitary state. We cannot have two governments. And therefore we want to tell our leaders in other quarters, please be responsible. Why do you cheat people that you can create another government in Kenya?” he posed.

This comes even as Azimio leader Raila Odinga promised that the opposition would resume anti-government protests after Ramadhan.

Speaking on Sunday, Raila said he was ready for talks but listed four issues that the government should address before dialogue.

“We want talks, and we are ready, but come with a clean heart, not with disrespect. If you disrespect us, then you will also be disrespected,” Raid said.

In his first demand, Raila said that the government should bring down the cost of living, with a priority on unga prices, which he says should be Ksh100 for a 2kg packet.

He has also demanded a reduction of fuel prices, as well as the reduction of school fees.

Before any talks could take place, Raila has also demanded a forensic audit of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to determine the winner of the 2022 Presidential election.

Raila has also demanded that the Cherera four be reinstated- to their positions. The four led by former vice chair Juliana Cherera, former commissioners; Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyangaya and Irene Masit were pushed out after disagreeing with former IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati.
