Wavinya Ndeti confronts Ruto over unfulfilled pledges ahead of Machakos tour
By Luke Oluoch, November 14, 2025Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has put President William Ruto on the spot over a series of pledges she claims remain unmet ahead of the head of state’s tour of the county this Friday, November 14, 2025.
In a lengthy statement on her X page on Friday, November 14, 2025, the governor confirmed that she would welcome Ruto’s visit to the Lower Eastern Region and Machakos County in line with the principle of shared cooperation and collaboration for intergovernmental relations.
Among the pledges highlighted by the governor are financial support towards the construction of the Mavoko Level 4 Hospital and the Masinga Water Intake Project in Masinga Constituency.
According to the governor, the two projects total Ksh550 million, with the health facility requiring a total of Ksh250 million as per the proposed budget.
Ndeti has also called Ruto’s attention to the peaceful and fair compensation and settlement for families affected by the Portland land homes demolitions.

She also listed the review of the high land values affecting the residents of KCB land regularisation in Mavoko, as well as a Ksh200 million pledge for the construction of Mavoko Stadium in Athi River Sub-County.
Critical to our people
“We hereby bring to your attention the following unmet pledges that are critical to our people’s welfare,” part of her statement read.
Additionally, the governor has demanded a follow-up on several public commitments made by the president to the people of Machakos County.
Among the projects are the completion of the stalled Oldonyo Sabuk Road in Matungulu Sub-County and the stalled Kenol–Mitaboni–Kaani Road in Kathiani Sub-County.
She also listed the completion of the stalled Matuu–Ekalakala Road in Masinga Sub-County and the commencement of the construction of the Yatta Dam.
Others include the completion of the stalled Kivandini -Kyasioni Road in Matuu Ward, Yatta Sub-county, and the cleaning exercise of Athi River, the main source of water to Thwake Dam.
