Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has unleashed a fresh political assault on Democracy for Citizens’ Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua, promising to escalate his criticism in the coming days.

Through a strongly worded Facebook post on Sunday, November 16, 2025, Wambugu said he is done exercising restraint.

His remarks came minutes after Gachagua held a televised media interview in Kanyuambora, Embu County, where the DCP leader slammed Jubilee Party for alleged betrayal.

Reacting sharply, Wambugu mocked Gachagua’s earlier comments, branding Jubilee members “red wheelbarrow.”

Wambugu exposes Gachagua

He wrote, “Naskia ametuita red wheelbarrow tena? We will politically beat him like beans.

“And then we will go and apologise to Bazuu (Jubilee Party Leader Uhuru Kenyatta). And he will have to forgive us. We don’t want childishness.”

The latest tension was triggered by a Jubilee MCA candidate in Narok stepping down in favour of UDA, prompting Gachagua to accuse Jubilee officials of betrayal.

But Wambugu dismissed Gachagua’s reaction as hypocritical.

“Gachagua attacks Jubilee because our Narok candidate stepped down for his clansman; meanwhile, his Mbeere North candidate (Duncun Mbui) joined Moses Kuria’s party to run against DP, and in Malava, his man (Edgar Busiega) is still on the ballot, disadvantaging DAPK. Pure childishness,” Wambugu posted on Facebook.

According to Wambugu, the DCP leader is “choosing outrage selectively” while ignoring cases where his own allies undermined opposition unity across the country.

He vowed to make countering Gachagua a full-time mission.

Wambugu stated that “fighting Gachagua will be his main task moving forward,” adding that he will hold nothing back.

The outspoken politician also claimed that Jubilee leaders will still remain loyal to former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He said they would “apologise to Uhuru if necessary,” insisting that the retired president remains their moral anchor.

Wambugu’s fiery post comes hours after Gachagua launched attacks on unnamed Jubilee officials whom he accused of turning against him and now targeting Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

During the interview, Gachagua said, “Those Jubilee leaders were fighting me instead of fighting William Ruto, who is our common enemy.”

He further questioned why some officials had shifted their aggression toward Kalonzo, stating, “The way our king Uhuru Kenyatta told them is a nice idea, even though now they have started targeting Kalonzo.

“We are not understand what they want.”

With both sides firing sharply worded salvos, the political battle between Jubilee figures and the DCP leader is now escalating ahead of the high-stakes Mbeere North mini-poll.
