Wamalwa: United Opposition and Linda Mwananchi are working to become one

In a statement shared on Friday, July 24, 2026, Wamalwa said the two formations are collaborating closely under the WANTAM platform, describing the initiative as a step towards building a single opposition team focused on offering Kenyans an alternative leadership.
“United Opposition and Linda Mwananchi, all of us are in WANTAM, and we are working closely so that we become one team,” Wamalwa said.

The former Defence Cabinet Secretary added that unity among opposition leaders remains critical in their efforts to challenge the Kenya Kwanza administration, saying a united front would strengthen their chances of delivering on the aspirations of Kenyans.
“Together, we are stronger. Together, we will deliver a better Kenya,” he added.
Wamalwa has been one of the prominent figures pushing for opposition unity, alongside leaders drawn from various political parties and formations. In recent months, he has consistently called for cooperation among opposition leaders, arguing that internal divisions would only weaken efforts to provide effective checks and balances on the government.
WANTAM initiative
The remarks come amid ongoing consultations under the WANTAM initiative, which has brought together members of the United Opposition and the Linda Mwananchi movement to harmonise their political agenda and establish a common strategy ahead of the next general election.
The unity talks have intensified following a series of joint appearances by opposition leaders, who have pledged to set aside individual party interests in favour of a broader coalition.
The leaders have maintained that presenting a united front will be key to mobilising support across the country as political alignments continue to take shape ahead of the 2027 polls.
