Wamalwa faults Ruto’s govt over lack of strategy

Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has accused President William Ruto of overseeing a regime that has failed in offering leadership.
Taking to his X page following the opposition tour of the western region on Friday, July 4, 2025, Wamalwa stated that the time was ripe for Kenyans to unite in the quest to liberate the nation from the rudderless leadership of the head of state and his team of advisors.
He cited the punitive taxes that have adversely impacted small businesses economically and unfulfilled promises as examples of the state government’s failures.
Fuel hikes
“Thank you, residents of Kiminini town, Trans Nzoia county, for saying no to failed Rutonomics. Together we shall liberate Kenyans from the failed hustler fund to forced housing levies, from punitive taxes to continuous fuel hikes. KK policies are launched without a strategy, piloted with fake data and sold with fake promises.
“The result is a nation teetering on collapse. SMEs are shutting down, farmers are broke and will not be paid soon, investors are fleeing and boda boda riders are crying foul,” Wamalwa said.

In a direct address to the president, Wamalwa also cited Ruto for ignoring the pleas of the youthful population, citing the mounting opposition to his government and policies.
Ignoring Gen Zs
“You have often accused Kenyans, especially the youth, of misunderstanding your policies or unfairly judging your intentions. But the truth is simpler and harsher: your administration is in crisis, politically with Generation Z and economically with the country’s fiscal collapse, and your team seems too insulated or too arrogant to tell you the truth,” he added.
Wamalwa challenged the president to adopt a listening ear and address the needs of Kenyans, and especially the youthful population.
“Listen Before You Lecture! You were not elected to rule over Kenyans; you were entrusted to serve them. The recent wave of youth-led protests did not erupt because of misinformation, foreign interference, or social media manipulation. It erupted because young people are angry, afraid, and exhausted. They are drowning in joblessness, crushed by taxes, and robbed of hope. They feel betrayed by the very institutions meant to protect them, including your government,” he stated.
