Wahome Thuku calls for ouster of Ruto and his allies in Mt Kenya

By , November 17, 2025

City Lawyer Wahome Thuku has called for Mt Kenya residents to oust President William Ruto and his lieutenants from power in 2027.

Through a post on Facebook on Sunday, November 16, 2025, Wahome stated it makes zero sense for President William Ruto to be removed in the 2027 poll while his close allies in the region remain untouched.

Wahome said the conversation about the mountain must now be open, direct and honest.

Wahome Thuku cautions Mt Kenya region

He wrote that the region cannot pretend to fix leadership by only removing the head and leaving the entire structure intact.

“One, kicking out Kasongo (Ruto)is not enough, we must kick him out with ALL his footsoldiers and sidekicks in the mountain,” Thuku stated.

He added that the region is repeating mistakes made in 2022, when a large part of Mt Kenya voted overwhelmingly for Ruto despite many warnings.

Wahome said, “A million of us in Mt Kenya tried to stop him in 2022, but you all voted for him, and now you are back here lecturing us. That is behind us now. In 2027, we must undo your mess.”

The lawyer expressed concern that voters want to remove the president but keep the very allies who campaigned for him.

He described this as a dangerous betrayal of the movement that wants change.

“What I am, however, realising is that you just want to kick out Kasongo (Ruto) and retain his footsoldiers. It’s like I am one of the few people who want him to go plus his eggs,” he said.

He warned that Mt Kenya risks falling into the same political trap again.

“You people are warming up to the eggs. That will be the worst betrayal of the cause. You are Wantam for Ruto but warming up to his Molima pointmen,” Wahome wrote.

He claimed that in the Kikuyu Constituency, residents are even embracing Kimani Ichung’wah more than before. “Imagine,” he wrote, expressing disbelief.

Wahome uses literature

Wahome compared the region’s behaviour to the famous novel Things Fall Apart.

He said, “Those who have read Things Fall Apart, you will recall how Okonkwo really fought for his people, only for the people to betray him when he needed them most.”

He warned that betraying a community is bad, but being betrayed by your own community is worse.

Wahome ended with a caution: “Mkicheza in 2030 we will still be here screaming ‘WanTam’.”

With the 2027 race already shaping deep divisions, Wahome’s message adds new heat to an increasingly volatile Mt Kenya political scene.
