The United Opposition is now set to continue with its Ukambani tour days after a brief hiatus.

In a statement shared by Kalonzo Musyoka on his social media pages on Friday, April 10, 2026, he announced that they will be heading to Machakos County, where they will carry out a series of rallies.

The Ukambani region tour had been briefly interrupted due to the burial of former Kirinyaga Senator Daniel Karaba, where the leaders were forced to abandon the tour and attend the burial. The event also saw them meeting retired President Uhuru Kenyatta for the first time, a moment that took the country by storm.

“Machakos, are you ready? The Ukombozi wave is hitting every corner, and nothing can stop what has already begun. Tupatane kesho ground,” Kalonzo stated

The tour was also adjusted to allow the leaders to address demolitions that had taken place in Gikomba.

Earlier, during their Ukambani tour, which began in Makueni and later moved to Kitui County, the United Opposition attracted large crowds, with Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua appearing to be backing Kalonzo Musyoka as his preferred presidential candidate.

Machakos tour

After the Machakos tour, they are also expected to head on Saturday, April 11, 2026, to Kikuyu Constituency, where they will be welcomed by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for several tours in the area.

Gachagua has expressed fears ahead of his visit to Kimani Ichung’wah’s constituency, saying that goons have been mobilised by the leader to disrupt their political activities in the area.

The DCP leader also directly addressed the president on the same during the funeral in Ol Kalou, where they met face to face. He termed the move to bar him from carrying out political activities in the Kikuyu Constituency as barbaric and outdated, saying it has no place in modern society.

Kimani Ichung’wah has since responded, stating that nobody has barred Gachagua from carrying out political activities in his jurisdiction and that he is free to do so as long as he does not incite anyone.

Upcoming tours

This also comes ahead of their Western Kenya tour, which was initially slated for the third week of April but was later postponed due to inconveniences. They were expected to be hosted by the Democratic Action Party–Kenya (DAP-K). The team was also scheduled to tour the Coast region and hold a three-day retreat to discuss the criteria they would use to select their presidential flag bearer.

They are also expected to tour the northeastern region to popularise their bid and sensitise the country, especially young people, to register as voters.
