UDA has 7 million members – DP Ruto
Deputy President William Ruto now claims that his newly founded United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has garnered over 7 million members in the last few years.
DP Ruto made the claims during his address at UDA’s National Delegates Convention where he was nominated as the party’s presidential candidate.
“We have over 7 million party members so far who have registered with us. This is a party for every Kenyan,” Ruto said.
While addressing the over 4000 delegates at the Kasarani Gymnasium where he was also elected as the party leader, Ruto vowed to guard the party’s policies and agendas.
“I don’t take your support, time and interest for granted. We will walk this journey until we knock the gates of our glorious tomorrow,” he said as he acclaimed delegates for endorsing him.
“I accept your nomination to be the UDA’s presidential flagbearer and party candidate with a lot of gratitude. I will live up to your trust and I’ll do my best to exceed your expectations until what you have asked of me is delivered,” he added.
In his submission, Ruto also acknowledged Tracy Wanjiru and Japhanei Orina who he beat to clinch the UDA presidential ticket ahead of the August elections.
“I thank UDA for according us the opportunity to contest for the position without discrimination. I am aware some youngsters are giving everything for this course,” he said.
Ruto is currently addressing the delegates in Nairobi in the company of other leaders.
