Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi posted a video on his X account on February 22, 2026, accusing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of broadcasting private disagreements publicly.

Sudi claimed he had helped Gachagua rise to power but said Gachagua now spreads false stories instead of showing gratitude. The video came two days after Gachagua played an audio recording during a media interview on February 20, in which Sudi allegedly insulted Gachagua and issued threats.

Gachagua used the recording to support his claims of intimidation by government officials and spoke about corruption and land grabbing. The audio quickly circulated on social media, prompting debate and calls for accountability.

The rift between Sudi and Gachagua dates back to mid-2024, when Gachagua warned Rift Valley leaders, including Sudi, to stay out of Mount Kenya politics. Sudi rejected the warning, stating:

“You cannot control where I go. If we all stayed in our respective constituencies, then we could not be in government. I am not someone you can threaten.”

Tensions escalated after Parliament impeached Gachagua in October 2024, removing him from his position as Deputy President under President William Ruto. He now leads the Democracy for the Citizens Party, positioning himself as a fighter against corruption in Ruto’s administration.

Sudi addressed Gachagua directly in the video, using the nickname “Wamunyoro.” He expressed shock at Gachagua’s actions:

“Nilikuwa nafikiri utaenda kusema juzi nilikuwa mtu wako. Nilikusaidia ukawa naibu wa rais.”

He accused Gachagua of ingratitude:

“Lakini nilishangaa wale watu unalima. Sasa wewe tulikusukuma. Badala useme asante unaenda kusema vitu fake.”

Sudi criticised Gachagua for leaking private conversations:

“Mambo yangu mimi na wewe yenye tulikuwa tunaongea, unaenda unatangazia watu. Sasa hiyo ni audio gani hiyo uliweka Wamunyoro, Mr Dorcus?”

He also suggested that Gachagua had been following a script provided by friends:

“Alafu ya pili, ile watu walikupatia script wale marafiki yako wale wa kwetu. Sasa wewe nawe umeenda ukauza.”

Sudi accuses Gachagua directly

Sudi labelled Gachagua a liar and warned him to be cautious:

“You are a liar among liars who have ever been born in this world… I told you, let’s go slowly.”

He accused Gachagua of greed during his time in office:

“You wanted to steal sugar, you want to steal farms, you take dirty things, and you are Deputy President.”

Sudi drew comparisons with the current Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki:

“Look at Kithure Kindiki slowly, and look at yourself.”

He rejected Gachagua’s claims of oppression and questioned his logic:

“Do you know someone can have government money, not do work for his people, not for Kenya, and not for himself?”

Sudi defended President Ruto, saying:

“Better this one got leadership, and those people you mention are okay, but he is President of Kenya, he does for everyone.”

He dismissed old politics and warned against making private disputes public:

“My brother, that old politics has been overtaken by time… And you next time, if we clash privately on our phone, stop announcing.”

Sudi reminded Gachagua of past help, questioning what he had done in return:

“Now you go announce these small things, and you yourself know, at least I have worked for you. I have helped even got you out of a place… You have helped me with what?”
