Sifuna, Osotsi and Natembeya hold high-profile meeting amid rising political realignments
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, held a high-profile breakfast meeting as political realignments in the country continue to rise ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Taking to his official Facebook page after the meeting, Osotsi revealed that the leaders had discussed unity, accountability, and the future direction of leadership amid shifting political alliances.
Osotsi said the leaders reflected on the current political landscape and emphasised the need for people-centred leadership focused on transformative ideas that can uplift communities.
“This morning, I held a breakfast meeting with my brothers, George Natembeya and Edwin W. Sifuna. We reflected on the current political landscape and the urgent need for people-centered leadership,” Osotsi stated.
Unity and accountability
According to Osotsi, the discussions centred on strengthening collaboration among leaders while maintaining a strong focus on accountability in governance.
The leaders reportedly agreed on the importance of putting citizens’ needs at the centre of political decision-making, especially at a time when economic pressure and public dissatisfaction continue to shape national conversations.
“Our conversation reaffirmed our shared commitment to unity, accountability and the pursuit of transformative ideas that will uplift our communities. I remain encouraged by the strength of such partnerships as we continue working together for the greater good of our nation,” Osotsi wrote on Facebook.

Natembeya woos Sifuna
The meeting comes at a time when political realignments are increasingly becoming visible across the country, with leaders repositioning themselves ahead of the next election cycle.
Natembeya had earlier called on Sifuna to join the United Opposition.
Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Natembeya warned that Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi faction of the ODM party forming a third force by choosing to go into the 2027 general elections independently could hand President William Ruto an easy path to re-election.
Natembeya described the current state of ODM as chaotic.
“You know they are on the other side in ODM, and ODM is like a bat; it is neither a bird nor a mammal, it is just there. They need to sort out that issue of which ODM is which,” he said.

He explained that the party is currently divided into factions, with one led by party leader Oburu Odinga committed to the broad-based government, while Sifuna heads a rival faction that is opposed to the ODM deal with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
According to Natembeya, Sifuna’s faction is likely to create a third force once they formally break away from ODM, describing the move as a disaster.
“The moment they are gone, where is the other faction going to go? Are they going to be independent, or are they going to join the United Opposition, which we are now calling the alternative government?” Natembeya asked.
