Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi draws sea of humanity after landing in Kakamega
Edwin Sifuna led the Linda Mwananchi team in drawing a sea of humanity after landing in Kakamega town for their much-anticipated rally.
Sifuna’s caravan snaked through Kakamega town en route to Amalemba Grounds, where the rally was scheduled to take place. Supporters turned out in large numbers, following the procession and chanting slogans in support of the leaders.
He was accompanied by several Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) allies, including James Orengo, Babu Owino, Caleb Amisi, Richard Onyonka, and Kakamega senatorial aspirant Brian Lishenga. Leaders from other parties also joined them, among them Jack Wamboka and Majimbo Kalasinga.

The atmosphere was lively, with both Sifuna and Babu Owino standing atop their vehicles as the convoy made its way through town. The popular “Jeshi la Baba” song blared from speakers, sending supporters into a frenzy as they waved and cheered along the streets.
The leaders are set to hold their rally at Amalemba Grounds in Kakamega before proceeding to Mbale in Vihiga County for another engagement.
Earlier in the day, Kakamega town witnessed heightened activity ahead of their arrival, with a heavy police presence reported in several parts of the town. A rival group dressed in reflector jackets and T-shirts branded “TUTAM” was also spotted, publicly declaring their allegiance to President William Ruto and Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa.
Regional commander

Edwin Sifuna’s planned visit to the Western region had earlier drawn attention after the regional police commander stated that he had not been formally informed of the team’s political activities. He noted that he, like many Kenyans, had only learned about the planned rally through social media.
“We have heard on social media that the senator for Nairobi will be having a rally at Amalemba Grounds. Nobody has come to my office to inform me; we are only seeing it on social media. Nobody has come to ask for assistance.”
Despite this, the commander assured the public that the Sifuna-led team would be accorded the necessary security to ensure their activities proceed peacefully.
Barasa welcomes Sifuna.

Earlier, Fernandes Barasa had also welcomed the Sifuna-led delegation. He stated that although he is associated with the rival Linda Ground movement, he would not interfere with their rally in Kakamega County, emphasising the importance of political tolerance and peaceful engagement.
