Salasya calls out Gachagua for weakening the opposition
By Kiprono Keileb, November 30, 2025Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has launched a fierce attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, calling him out for what he said, weakening the opposition from within and causing unnecessary divisions at a time the United Opposition is trying to build momentum after the Thursday, November 27, by-elections.
In a strongly worded statement on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Salasya expressed frustration over what he described as Gachagua’s interference, manipulation, and selfish political manoeuvres during the mini-polls.

“Wewe Rigathi Gachagua, you will separate the united opposition. I hate your selfishness. All these mistakes, you are the cause. You had a candidate in Malava after Malala destroying us that DAP-K ni ya Bukusu, you stepped down your candidate to embrace us, then he promised people of Malava to protect the votes of Seth Kuka Panyako, only to resurface by congratulating the UDA candidate.” Salasya stated.
The Member of Parliament went on to blast Gachagua for meddling in races across the country and undermining candidates who had stronger grassroots backing. He referenced the Magarini and Mbeere North by-elections as some of the places where he said the former deputy president brought confusion.
“In Magharini, knowing well it was a stronghold of Wiper, you said its DCP. In Mbeere, you’re told it was DP instead of allowing Muturi to use his network to win Mbeere North, you wanted to outsmart him by trying to micromanage everything.” He said.

Salasya warned that the opposition could stagnate if such behaviour continues, insisting that younger leaders would soon step in to provide direction.
“Riggy with this spirit sioni opposition ikisonga, but we young people we shall give you directions very soon.” He added.
His remarks come just days after the by-elections, where the opposition won several MCA seats but lost key parliamentary races in Malava, Mbeere North, and Banisa, results that triggered blame, finger-pointing, and internal criticism within the coalition.
