Safina SG Joakim Simiyu faults political formations ahead of 2027 polls
Safina Party Secretary General Joakim Simiyu has decried the current political formation in the country, stating that to usher in a meaningful change in the political landscape.
Speaking to a local TV station on Friday, November 14, 2025, Simiyu decried the lack of a progressive agenda for Kenyans.
He opined that many of the issues being fronted by both the government and the opposition were not the actual issues besetting the nation.
Selling unity
“If you look at the formations the politicians are presenting as the options, I look at the president and his team, and I wonder, in whose hands are we safe? The government is selling to us unity and inclusivity as if that is our problem. The opposition is also selling unity, but is that really our problem? We are not as divided as the politicians want us to think,” he stated.
“Before a coalition, we need a progressive agenda. As we are right, Safina Party is the only party with an agenda, and it is why I use every opportunity I get to implore people to join the party,” he stated.

According to Simiyu, the formation must address fundamental issues beyond just the obsession to remove the incumbent regime from office.
Fundamental issues
“We need to have issues beyond the one term. How are we going to live and behave after the one term? What is the agenda of people wanting to replace the leadership in place? It just does not end there!” He added.
His remarks come a day after President William Ruto also castigated the opposition politician for lacking a meaningful agenda for Kenyans, other than their obsession with hounding him out of office.
Speaking in Kilome Constituency, Makueni County, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Ruto warned the Ukambani constituents against electing such leaders.
“Those people who have no agenda or plans are not people we can entrust with leadership by electing them to office. Let us not destroy our country by electing such people. We have to ensure we continue the projects and the work we have started,” he said.
