President William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader Raila Odinga have yet again engaged in a Twitter brawl over the ouster of the four embattled Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners.

In the latest exchange of words, Ruto fired back at Raila for insisting that he won the August presidential election and using the ‘rogue’ commissioners to overturn the will of the people.

The commander-in-chief made the remarks after Raila stated that the Azimio coalition was not yet done with seeking the truth regarding the poll conducted on August 9, despite the Supreme Court ruling that upheld President William Ruto’s victory.

The head of state called out the former premier for peddling lies and maintained that he lost the election despite having support from the government.

“Even with the system/deep state you lost the election. Stop deluding yourself and lying. The coup to overturn the people’s will using rogue commissioners, you are now threatening us with maandamano about failed. Their guilt or innocence will be determined by the tribunal. Rule of law it is,” he stated.

But in a quick rebuttal, the Azimio supremo unearthed a short clip of Ruto disputing the 2007 results announced by the Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK).

In the clip, Ruto who was an ardent supporter of the ODM leader then is seen questioning the commission’s chair, the late Samuel Kivuitu and asking him to clarify on the discrepancies which were similar to the issues raised by Raila during the 2022 election petition.
