Ruto brags about broad-based govt’s clean sweep of 7 parliamentary by-election seats
President William Ruto has taken pride in the dominance of the broad-based government in the concluded by-elections across the country.
Speaking on Friday, November 28, 2025, during the launch of the Mau Summit-Rironi Road, Ruto stated that victories were an indication of the type of leadership the nation wanted.
Among the major wins for the broad-based partners included all six National Assembly seats.
UDA registered notable victories in Malava, Mbeere North, Banissa, Baringo Senate, and several wards, while ODM retained strongholds in Kasipul, Magarini, and Ugunja.
“Jana tulikuwa na uchanguzi kati ya viti saba yote ilishindwa na broad-based. Ni kweli ama si kweli?” He posed.
“Sasa wananchi wamepatia hao majamaa ilani. Wakiendela na hii tutawazamisha asubuhi na mapema.”
Ruto termed the victories an affirmation from Kenyans on the type of leadership they desired.
Nashukuru wapigaji kura kutoka sehemu zote. Nawaambia asante sana; mumetuhakikishia kuwa hamtaki ukabila. Wakenya wametuhakikishia kuwa hawataki ukabila na chuki.”

He challenged the opposition to change their approach to politics to be issue-based and not on personalities.
“I want to tell our friends we don’t want a divided country; do not sell us ethnic hate or divisions. Tell us your agenda and plans. One-term and Kasongo are not agendas. It is about hate only,” he stated.
The UDA party also claimed wins in several Member of County Assemblies (MCA) seats.
ODM victories
Meanwhile, its partner in government, the Orange Democratic Movement, also made a clean sweep of the parliamentary contest it was involved in.
ODM bagged wins in Magarini, where Harrison Kombe trounced his competitor, Stanley Kenga, to reclaim the seat he won in 2022 before a high court annulled the results.
The party also retained its seats in Kasipul, where youthful aspirant Boyd Were was declared the new MP-elect after defeating Nashon Philip Aroko, who ran on an independent ticket.
Moses Omondi of Ugunja emerged victorious in another seat in its stronghold in Siaya County.
His remarks come after ODM party leader Oburu Oginga congratulated the party’s new MPs after their respective victories in the by-elections. In a statement on his X page on Friday, November 28, 2025, Oburu expressed his congratulatory messages to Boyd Were, the MP-elect for Kasipul in Homa Bay County.
The party leader also conveyed a similar message to Harrison Kombe and Moses Omondi.
“Congratulations to our ODM candidates Moses Omondi (Ugunja), Boyd Were (Kasipul), and Harrison Kombe (Magarini) for your great and well-deserved by-election victories. Your wins are a show of the trust and confidence the people have placed in your leadership and @TheODMparty,” he stated.
