Rongai MP Paul Chebor Mamba has blasted the powerful individuals around Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika for orchestrating fights against him within the constituency despite holding a truce with her.

Speaking at Mercy Njeri in Rongai sub-county, Chebor said that their political truce, which was done in the best interest of the party, will be short-lived owing to the manipulations being done to undermine his leadership in the constituency.

“You know we had chosen to stick together because of the party, but if it’s not working, we have to abandon. You can’t be abusing me in the night and expect me to sing two-term to Governor Kihika. We are now going to factory settings,” he said.

Chebor accused the first gentleman of trying to install another candidate for the constituency, saying that the move undermines their collective teamwork as leaders.

He said that some of them had been singing one term under his leadership, saying that he felt offended by the actions.

“From today, I have gone back to where we were before the truce. I can’t force myself on people who don’t value and appreciate my gestures for the unity of the leaders. I will work with leaders who mean well for us and for the common good,” he said.

Kuresoi North MP Alfred Mutai urged the leaders to be cautious on the sentiments that could derail their unity of purpose for the county.

He said leaders should be given humble space to deliver on their programs to the people, saying that service delivery should override political ambitions.

“People will have a choice to make when the time comes for the election; for now, leaders should be given time to deliver their work if they are working hard. Chebor was my colleague in the county assembly, and I know his work mantra,” he said.

Chebor was locked in a political fight with Governor Kihika for several months before the leaders came together to work in unity and set aside their political differences.
