Peter Mbae to Ichung’wah: Prepare to go home in 2027
Democracy for Citizens (DCP) economic adviser and Nakuru County senatorial aspirant Peter Mbae has warned Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah that he should be ready to go home in 2027.
While speaking during an interview on Monday, April 6, 2026, the outspoken politician criticised Ichungwa over blind loyalty to President William Ruto, noting that many people since independence who had enjoyed the privilege of being close to the president and were even more powerful than Ichungw’ah ultimately left office in shame.

Mbae also took issue with Ichungwa over his recent threats to the DCP party leader, in which he warned against stepping into the Kikuyu constituency. He emphasised that the whole Mt Kenya region supports the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and subscribes to the WANTAM movement, saying this will seal Ichungwa’s fate next year.
Mbae further stated that the party has already begun looking for a replacement in the Kikuyu constituency—someone loyal to the community and its people—and that they will ensure Ichungwa is voted out.
“You forget people were surrounding the presidents since 1963 who were much more powerful than you currently are, and they went home mostly in shame and in poverty. Ninety-nine percent of Kikuyu voters are DCP and WANTAM.
“Yet, you publicly warn that Riggy G should not visit the area. Bro, you will be going home next year. We will get someone with the capacity to work but who understands loyalty to the party and community first,” Peter Mbae stated.
The former Deputy President, while in Gatundu North, also expressed similar concerns, saying that Ichungwa had publicly stated while at Alliance High School that he would never step foot in his Kikuyu constituency. Gachagua criticised the DCI for remaining quiet in the face of such threats, questioning why they have not acted to apprehend the “kingmaker”.
Ichung’wa’s heckling

This comes days after Ichungwa, along with other Kiambu lawmakers, was heckled in front of President William Ruto while in Juja and Thika constituencies during the Head of State’s development tour, forcing them to cut short their speeches.
Gachagua has called upon the Mt Kenya region to weed out such leaders, accusing them of betraying the community and labelling them as betrayers.
