Pauline Njoroge breaks silence on claims she’s ferrying Uhuru’s cash to Linda Mwananchi
Jubilee Party Deputy Organising Secretary Pauline Njoroge has dismissed claims that she has been acting as a conduit for funds from retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to bankroll the Edwin Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi movement.
Speaking during an interview with Herman Manyora on the night of Friday, July 10, 2026, Njoroge described the allegations as political propaganda designed to discredit the opposition.
Njoroge argued that political opponents were deliberately trying to portray Uhuru as the financier behind Linda Mwananchi in an attempt to turn public opinion against the outfit.
“In politics, people create all sorts of propaganda and start pushing it until it starts looking like a reality. In politics, perception is almost everything,” Njoroge said.
She claimed there were concerted efforts to make the fourth head of state the focal point of the 2027 political contest.
“There are people who are so determined to find a bogeyman for the 2027 elections, and there is every effort to make Uhuru Kenyatta that bogeyman. They imagine that by telling Kenyans that it is Uhuru who is funding Linda Mwananchi, Kenyans will then turn against Linda Mwananchi,” she said.

Although she stopped short of confirming that the former president is financing the movement, Njoroge defended his right, as a retired Kenyan citizen, to support any political cause of his choosing.
“But Uhuru is a Kenyan who has his right to support whichever cause he deems fit through whichever means, even if it is resource-wise,” she stated.
She added:
“I am not saying he is funding Linda Mwananchi, but I am saying even if he decided to do that, he has a right to.”
Njoroge accused President William Ruto’s administration of using Uhuru as a convenient political scapegoat instead of addressing the concerns being raised by Kenyans.
“He is a former president who retired four years ago, the current administration has failed in governance in so many aspects. They cannot keep using Uhuru Kenyatta as an excuse,” Njoroge remarked.

She maintained that Linda Mwananchi was exercising its constitutional right to campaign across the country.
“Then, Linda Mwananchi has a right to campaign in this country. I am not carrying any money. There is nothing like that,” she said.
Funding claims have followed Linda Mwananchi
The remarks come after weeks of claims by some government-allied politicians and social media commentators that the Linda Mwananchi movement is secretly being financed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Similar allegations have also targeted Njoroge personally, with claims that she has been ferrying money to support the movement’s activities.

Neither documentary evidence nor official records have been produced publicly to substantiate the allegations.
Sifuna also denied claims
Njoroge’s statement echoes previous remarks by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, one of Linda Mwananchi’s leading figures, who has repeatedly denied that Uhuru is bankrolling the movement.
Sifuna has maintained that the allegations are politically motivated and intended to shift attention away from the issues the movement has been raising during its rallies across the country.
The movement has recently intensified its nationwide mobilisation, holding rallies in Kitengela, Kakamega, Kisii and Nyamira, while also announcing plans to expand its activities to other regions, including Mt Kenya, where a rally has been scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2026, in Nyahururu.
