Otiende Amollo calls for end to Sifuna-Junet war of words
Rarieda Member of Parliament (MP) Otiende Amollo has weighed in on the infighting among ODM members, demanding an end to the public spats within a section of the party officials.
Speaking on Monday, January 5, 2026, in Nairobi, Otiende particularly addressed the ongoing war of words pitting National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed against Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, urging the pair to embrace dialogue and iron out their issues.
He opined that with the 2027 elections nearing, the party should instead focus on more important matters, such as strengthening its organs and structures ahead of the decisive polls.
Calling for peace
“Divisive rhetoric has taken over our politics without restraint. Given the positions bestowed on the elected officials, we urge Edwin Sifuna and Junet to desist from public verbal slurs and return to the table for internal discussion.
“It is time to walk back on the rhetoric and come back to build a strong party ahead of the next elections. It is time to walk back on the rhetoric and come back to build ahead of the 2027 elections,” he stated.

Otiende challenged the party leadership under Oburu Oginga to rein in the infighting and call individual members to order for the sake of normalcy and sanity.
“We call upon the party’s elected leadership and wider membership to uphold the tenets of unity and camaraderie espoused by the late Raila. We also encourage the party leader to call for an internal session to put an end to the spats,” he said.
Etale on ODM infighting
Similar sentiments of peaceful resolution to internal wrangles have also been made by the party’s director of communications, Philip Etale.
In a heartfelt plea to the ODM members on Monday, Etale implored party members to engage in deep reflection on Raila Odinga’s vision for the party following his death.
He challenged them to end the recent bickering that has been witnessed in the wake of the late leader’s demise and instead focus on fulfilling Raila’s final wishes and aspirations for Kenyans.
Appeal to ODM
“To the people of ODM, what we should be doing today is talking about how we can strengthen our party, as Baba said in one of his final party engagements. He urged us to build the party and make it strong, even when he was there (many seem never to have understood him).
