Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Party Leader and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has hinted at the Orange party’s rebel faction, Linda Mwananchi, contesting for power in the near future.

Speaking on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in Nairobi, when the Senator Edwin Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi faction released its scorecard on the 10-point agenda, Osotsi said that the political outfit that is breaking away from ODM is the government in waiting.

He argued that the scorecard prepared by their outfit has outdone the one released by the former nominated senator Agnes Zani-led five-member committee overseeing the implementation of the 10-point agenda and National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) Report.

“I am very happy this morning because when I was sitting there going through the two documents, the one prepared by this Kenya Kwanza government and the other one prepared by Linda Mwananchi, I could see that, indeed, Linda Mwananchi is the government in waiting,” Osotsi said.

10-point agenda report

Osotsi further argued that the Zani-led committee had spent a whole year doing nothing, noting that its members should be surcharged for misusing public money.

“If you look at what these people released yesterday, then you wonder what they had been doing for a whole year. In fact, one of the resolutions of this gathering should be that the Senator Zani-led committee should be surcharged for spending public money and doing nothing,” Osotsi added.

Natembeya woos Linda Mwananchi team

Osotsi’s remarks come just hours after Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya warned the Linda Mwananchi faction against creating a third force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Natembeya, instead, urged Sifuna and his team to join the United Opposition and form a strong team that will face President William Ruto in 2027.

Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Natembeya warned that Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi faction of the ODM party forming a third force by choosing to go into the 2027 general elections independently could hand President Ruto an easy path to re-election.

“You know they are on the other side in ODM, and ODM is like a bat; it is neither a bird nor a mammal, it is just there. They need to sort out that issue of which ODM is which,” he said.

According to Natembeya, Sifuna’s faction is likely to create a third force once they formally break away from ODM, describing the move as a disaster.

“The moment they are gone, where is the other faction going to go? Are they going to be independent, or are they going to join the United Opposition, which we are now calling the alternative government?” Natembeya asked.

He also argued that a split in ODM would dilute opposition votes and potentially benefit President Ruto.

“This war is within ODM; Sifuna is fighting another faction. One faction led by Oburu Odinga is determined to be in a broad-based government, and they have said that they are going to have an NDC, and they are gone. The moment they are gone, where is the other faction going to go? Are they going to be independent, or are they going to join the United Opposition, which we are now calling the alternative government?” he questioned.

“If they choose to go their own way, it is going to be a disaster because we now have two baskets of votes: ours, the opposition’s, and the broad-based government’s.”
