The united opposition leaders have unanimously requested President William Ruto to begin packing his belongings, ready to exit State House, now that the Wantam dream is almost becoming a reality in 2027.

Speaking during the burial service of the late Terry Kariuki, wife of the late and veteran J.M. Kariuki in Nakuru, the leaders delivered a sharp political message.

Gachagua goes after Ruto

“Huyu Kasongo niliona akilia anasema kuna wanaume watano wamekutana kugawa serikali. Amechanganyikiwa tangu aende Bondo kulia machozi ya uongo, familia ya Mama Ida ikasema Kalonzo anatambuliwa, sasa amechanganyikiwa,” Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua said.

“Hao wanaume na mama mmoja wanakutana kupanga vile utaenda nyumbani. Kazi yetu ni kukutoa serikalini, tutapanga baadaye,” he added.

The criticism continued from other leaders, including DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, who stated, “Wengine wanasema that the President wants to speak to us. If you want to speak to us, you must do so through our spokesperson.”

Wamalwa’s remarks reinforced the united opposition’s narrative that they are in control of the political discourse ahead of the 2027 elections.

The leaders emphasised that their coordination and public messaging are key to challenging the incumbent administration.

Historical injustices highlighted

Kalonzo Musyoka, the Wiper leader, also used the occasion to highlight unresolved issues.

“The injustices that the family of J.M. Kariuki and other families faced must be addressed. We must deal with historical injustices,” Kalonzo said.

The leaders spoke on Tuesday after attending the burial of Terry Kariuki at Kanyamwe Farm in Gilgil, Nakuru County.

Their comments signal a continuation of political jabs at President Ruto, while simultaneously using historical narratives to rally support among voters.

Observers say the united opposition is using such occasions to consolidate their political messaging and prepare the ground for the 2027 general elections.

The leaders’ combined statements also show a strategic effort to frame the incumbent government as disconnected from public and historical concerns, reinforcing their position ahead of the polls.
