One Kenya Alliance is intact – Mudavadi insists after Savula, Osotsi outburst
Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has hit out at politicians who are claiming that One Kenya Alliance (OKA) is headed for the grave.
In a Wednesday, January 5 statement shared on his social media pages, Mudavadi maintained that OKA is intact, calling out those saying that the alliance is dead. The ANC supremo stated that quarters that have been propagating the narrative have largely misinformed Kenyans.
“One Kenya Alliance is united and intact. Of late there has been a lot of misinformation to Kenyans of things that I have not said,” Mudavadi said.
The statement by the ANC party chief comes after his deputy party leader Ayub Savula decamped to Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja during an event held at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on December 31.
“I’ve not defected from ANC, but I’ve officially joined Azimio la Umoja. I want to state categorically that I have officially ditched OKA from today,” Savula said.
However, Mudavadi maintained that he is still in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta stating that matters of Kenya’s leadership are close to his heart.
“I urge fellow Kenyans to exercise patience and sobriety. Matters of the leadership of this country are closest to my heart. I cannot allow myself and my political associates to gamble with the lives of Kenyans,” Mudavadi said.
Speaking to a local daily on Tuesday, ANC’s nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi who also decamped to Raila’s Azimio la Umoja asked Mudavadi to join Raila if he wants his presidential ambitions to come to fruition.
“They (OKA) should stop their sideshows, blackmail and confusion. OKA is angling for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s support but Uhuru has shown clear signs that he is with Raila,” Osotsi said.
