Kenya is set to take center stage at the upcoming G7 Summit after securing an invitation as one of only five partner nations expected to participate in the high-level global meeting alongside some of the world’s leading economies.

In a statement shared on his X account on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi said he had arrived in Évian-les-Bains, France, ahead of the summit where he will join William Ruto and other global leaders in advancing Kenya’s interests on the international stage.

“Kenya is among only five partner nations invited to the summit alongside India, Brazil, South Korea and Egypt, a reflection of the country’s growing diplomatic capital, global influence and strategic importance in international affairs,” Mudavadi said.

The high-profile invitation places Kenya among a select group of countries expected to engage directly with major global economies on pressing international priorities while strengthening the country’s diplomatic standing globally.

Ruto to push Kenya and Africa agenda

Mudavadi said President Ruto will use the summit to champion both Kenya’s and Africa’s priorities in critical sectors shaping economic growth and development.

“At the summit, President Ruto will champion Kenya’s and Africa’s priorities on trade, investment, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and industrialisation while positioning Kenya as a key voice in shaping global solutions to shared challenges,” he stated.

The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening partnerships between Africa and leading world economies while addressing shared economic and development challenges.

Kenya seeks jobs and investment opportunities

Mudavadi further said Kenya’s participation goes beyond diplomatic representation, saying the summit presents a major opportunity for direct economic gains for the country.

“Kenya’s presence at the G7 is more than diplomatic representation; it is an opportunity to attract investment, expand economic partnerships, create jobs and advance opportunities that directly benefit Kenyan citizens,” he said.

He added that the summit further reinforces Kenya’s growing position as a trusted global partner as the country continues expanding its international influence in global decision-making platforms.

Ruto already in France ahead of summit

The developments come as President Ruto officially arrived in Evian, France, ahead of the summit set to begin on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a statement shared by State House Director of Communications Gerald Bitok, the President, accompanied by First Lady Rachel Ruto, landed in France on Tuesday morning ahead of the high-level engagement.

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said the visit forms part of Kenya’s wider strategy to deepen international partnerships and expand economic cooperation with leading global economies.

During the summit, President Ruto is also expected to advocate for Africa’s development priorities including debt sustainability, climate financing, digital transformation and reforms within global financial institutions as Kenya strengthens its role as one of Africa’s strongest diplomatic voices globally.
