Omanyo calls for unity ahead of ODM Kisumu rally
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Catherine Omanyo has called on Kenyans from all walks of life to attend the upcoming rally at Kirembe Grounds in Kisumu, saying the event is open to everyone and aimed at strengthening unity within the party.
Speaking during preparations for the rally on Friday, May 29, 2026, Omanyo emphasised that the gathering is not limited to a specific group, noting that supporters of the party come from diverse professions and backgrounds.
She invited all Kenyans, particularly those who continue to support the vision of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, to attend the event and engage with the party leadership.
“Whoever has not yet gotten this information, I am inviting all Kenyans, especially those who loved the vision of Baba and still do, and want the legacy to remain alive,” she said.
Omanyo said the rally will provide an opportunity for supporters to receive clear political direction from the party, stressing that ODM remains united under one vision.
“We are inviting them to hear from us because that is where they will get proper and clear direction. At the end of the day, ODM stands for Orange Democratic Movement, not movements. It is one direction, one movement,” she said.
She further noted that all elected leaders affiliated with the party, including Members of Parliament, Senators, and Governors, have been invited to attend, adding that unity remains key despite occasional differences among members.
“Even at home, you can have children singing different songs, but as a parent, you guide them and remind them of the principles of the house. We sing this way,” she said.

Grassroots mobilisation
Party officials in Kisumu have also been working closely with local leaders, youth groups, and women’s organisations to mobilise residents ahead of the highly anticipated event.
They say the rally is part of a broader strategy to reconnect with supporters at the grassroots level and reinforce unity within the party structures.
Speaking on the preparations, local coordinators noted that transport arrangements and staging logistics are being finalised to ensure smooth movement of supporters from different parts of Kisumu and neighbouring counties.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has intensified mobilisation efforts across the region as the party seeks to consolidate its support base ahead of the rally.
Party officials have been holding consultative meetings with grassroots coordinators to ensure strong participation and smooth organisation of the event at Kirembe Grounds.
The rally is also expected to bring together key allies and supporters of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, with organisers saying the event will serve as a platform to reaffirm the party’s political direction and shared vision.
