Olekina warns of schemes to undermine ODM as he plans Nyanza rallies
Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has vowed to defend the Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) from what he described as diabolical schemes, aimed at loosening the twenty-year-old party’s dominance
Taking to his official X account on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Ledama hinted at plans of holding a Political rally in Kisumu, Homa Bay, and Migori counties.
In his remarks, Ledama announced that the upcoming rallies in Nyanza strongholds would ignite and remind Nyanza residents of those who stood with “Baba” (Raila Odinga) in tough times.
At the same time, the Narok Senator warned against efforts to destroy the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), declaring the party “mightier” while rejecting any fate similar to the dwindling popularity of the KANU Party.
“We can’t EVER end up like KANU NEVER, no matter what! Those diabolical schemes to annihilate the Orange Democratic Movement? Be brutally warned: we are MIGHTIER than you can fathom! Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori brace yourselves, I’m storming in SOON to ignite your fire and remind you who STOOD FIRM with Baba in the darkest hours!,” Ledama stated.

ODM cracks
This comes amid heightened factional tensions in ODM, including the “Linda Mwananchi” group and debates over leadership, zoning, and alliances.
A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporters under the “Linda Ground” faction recently downplayed the impact of a rival political gathering held in Kisumu County on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
The supporters, who spoke to the press on Monday, April 27, 2026, dismissed the “Linda Mwananchi” rally staged on Sunday, saying it failed to shake ODM’s political stronghold in the region despite drawing a significant crowd.
Despite widespread expectations that the Linda Mwananchi meeting led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna would be marred by violence or disruption from hired goons, the event proceeded peacefully in Kisumu city on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
However, Linda Ground leaders, led by Chairperson Gladys Wanga, have characterised the large turnout as a choreographed event, alleging that the crowd was mobilised and paid to attend.
“Hiyo ni ndoto ya mchana. Ni ndoto ya mchana kwa sababu chama kime fanya uamuzi na sisi tunaendelea na huo uamuzi wa chama wale wa kuota waendelee kuota,” Wanga said.
