The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is set to kick off a major youth mobilisation programme with a Nairobi edition mega youth convention scheduled for Monday, April 20, 2026, marking the start of a 25-county outreach campaign aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The party confirmed the mega youth convention on Saturday, April 18, 2026, on its official X account.

The announcement comes just days after the party’s Central Management Committee (CMC) confirmed plans to embark on nationwide tours to popularise the Orange Party.

The move is part of a broader strategy to energise supporters, especially young people, and reinforce ODM’s political identity, which has been in place since the party’s formation in 2005.

In a statement read by ODM Acting Secretary General Catherine Omanyo on Thursday, April 16, 2026, following a CMC meeting in Nairobi, the party leadership resolved to intensify mobilisation efforts across the country. Omanyo emphasised that the initiative is designed to strengthen ODM’s structures and expand its influence in key strongholds and beyond.

“At the end of the deliberations, the central committee made the following resolutions: one, that we embark on a vigorous and rigorous exercise to popularise and strengthen our party in all parts of the country,” Omanyo stated, adding that the party has no choice but to make our identity bigger.

As part of the rollout, ODM confirmed that youth conventions will form a central pillar of the engagement programme.

The Nairobi youth convention on April 20 will be the first in a series of county-based gatherings aimed at energising young supporters and recruiting new members into the party.

The second major youth event is scheduled for Mombasa on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Following these initial engagements, the party will take a short two-day break for a joint parliamentary group (PG) meeting before announcing the next phase of youth-focused activities across the remaining counties.

ODM has also directed that grassroots elections be conducted in regions where they have not yet taken place, as well as in areas with unresolved internal disputes. According to the party, these reforms are part of preparations to ensure organisational readiness ahead of the 2027 polls.

Omanyo further assured supporters and the public that ODM will conduct free and fair nominations, insisting that there will be no sacred cows in the process. The party also highlighted that the youth conventions are intended to revitalise its base and enhance internal democracy.

The Nairobi youth convention is expected to draw hundreds of delegates, youth leaders, and party officials as ODM begins its nationwide political mobilisation drive.
