Oburu arrives in Kisumu ahead of Wabiro mega rally

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Oburu Odinga has arrived in Kisumu ahead of the much-anticipated Kisumu Wabiro Mega Rally, setting the stage for a major political gathering expected to draw thousands of supporters from across the region.

Kisumu Governor Anyang ‘ Nyong’o welcomed the party leader at his Seme residence before proceeding to the event on Sunday, May 31, 2026.

According to the video seen by People Daily Digital, Oburu was accompanied by key leaders, including ODM chairperson and Homa Bay Governor, Gladys Wanga.

ODM unity on display

Seme MP James Nyikal said the rally is aimed at strengthening ODM and reaffirming unity among party members across the region.

According to Nyikal, the party has conducted extensive mobilisation campaigns in the lead-up to the event, including roadshows and meetings with youth groups, boda boda operators and residents in various sub-counties.

“Kisumu Wabiro is a major ODM function whose main objective is to strengthen our party. We want people from all walks of life to come together and demonstrate solidarity with ODM,” he said.

Nyikal revealed that organisers are expecting up to 30,000 people to attend the rally, adding that all key facilities, including the main podium and designated areas for attendees, have already been prepared.

He emphasised that the gathering will send a strong message about the party’s unity and continued influence in the region.

Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro, who also serves as secretary of the planning committee, assured supporters that security and logistical arrangements have been finalised.
