Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has challenged leaders to prioritise developmental projects as a way of bettering the lives of their citizens.

The MP made the remarks during an educational tour in Wundanyi, Taita Taveta county, where he was hosted by the area  MP Dan Mwashako and several MCAs from the area this Friday, March 21, 2025.

The embattled Nyoro, who found himself in an awkward situation on Thursday as administration officials boycotted his launch of a new administration offices in Kiharu on Thursday, stated that leaders should be engaging on the basis of their respective development agendas.

“Hio ndio maneno tunafaaa kuwa tunakimbizana nayo kama viongozi. We learn from each other, we converse with each other, we borrow from each other kwa kauli moja pekee yake ya kufanya maendeleo kwa wadosi wetu ambao ni wanachi wetu,” Nyoro said regarding a plan see parents contribute a mere Ksh1000 towards their children school fees.

“Vile nimeona tukiendelea na hii kasi kama wabunge na viongozi wanaoajibika tuko na uwezo wa kubaldilisha elimu ya watoto wa Kenya hata kupitia CDF,” he said.

The immediate former Budget and Appropriations Committee chair also waded in to the raging debate on abolishing the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG CDF).

The legislator registered his objection to the plans, reiterating the importance of the fund in enhancing education as key to transforming lives of Kenyans.

“We respect our judiciary as we respect any other organ of government. In regards to the existence of NGC CDF, kwa niaba ya wazazi wa Kenya watengeze barabara muafaka ndio NGCDF iendelee kutumikia wanachi wa Kenya. There is a case in court inasema NGCDF ifutuliwe mbali, Mimi naona ikifutiliwa mbali wale wataumia ni wanachi wa Kenya,”he said.

The MP remarks come after the administration officers from Kiharu, Murang’a, gave a wide berth to an official opening of their office, which was being presided over by the MP on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

Speaking after the snub, Nyoro maintained that he will continue to respect every leader, adding that his key focus is to ensure he delivers development to the people.

“Too much talking will not help in doing any projects. What people want to see is development, and that will also be my legacy as their leader,” Nyoro remarked.

“Exchange of words won’t add any value to the people; if there is anything we have to exchange, it’s the development ideas,” he added.

He urged other leaders also to focus on development as they have a task cut out for them by the residents who elected them to their respective seats.

Nyoro insisted on remaining silent over the issues that are happening in the country, saying when the time comes, he will speak out.

He, however, warned other leaders against poking into his eye, saying they should not take his silence for cowardice.

“I chose to respect everybody, but one should not take it as fear,” Nyoro added.
