Turkana South MP John Namoit thanks Raila, ODM for Beatrice Askul’s appointment to Cabinet
Turkana South Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) John Namoit has heaped praises on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga over President William Ruto’s appointment of Beatrice Askul to his Cabinet.
In a statement shared by the Orange party via their official X account on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, Namoit said he was grateful for the trust and confidence ODM had placed in the Turkana community by appointing Askul as the first CS woman in Turkana.
“Am deeply honoured and grateful for the trust and confidence you have placed in the Turkana community by appointing Hon. Askul as the first CS woman in Turkana,” the statement reads in part.
The ODM lawmaker went ahead to thank the Orange party for the support, noting that the Raila-led political outfit was excited to have been brought to the decision-making table for a prosperous Kenya.
Thankful for appointment
He further stated that the ODM family in Turkana was happy over the appointment, thanking Raila and President Ruto for the opportunity.
“It is truly humbling to have your support, and the ODM family is excited to be on the decision-making table for a prosperous country, Kenya. I want to express my sincere appreciation to each one of ODM leadership for buying into your position on this appointment, it wasn’t easy,” Namoit stated.
“The Turkana nation and the ODM family in Turkana are very Happy. God Bless Baba Raila Amolo Odinga and H.E President William Samoei Ruto.”

Beatrice Askul’s nomination
President Ruto on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, nominated Beatrice Askul Moe as the Cabinet Secretary of East African Community Affairs and Regional Development.
Askul’s nomination completed President Ruto’s list of Cabinet nominees that he announced in two batches after firing his entire previous Cabinet.
She is a professional in social science and a consultant and has previously served as the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Water, Irrigation, Agriculture, and Land Reclamation in Turkana County Government.
Askul has also worked as Director of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Chairperson Technical Committee of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Chairperson Audit Committee of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Project Officer of the AMREF Kenya Turkana Project, and Relief Officer for the Oxfam Turkana Relief Program.
