Mt Kenya has its owners – bullish Ruto cautions opponents
Deputy President William Ruto has cautioned ODM leader Raila Odinga and other presidential candidates that their current political forays in the Mt Kenya region will yield no votes since he controls the region.
The second in command, who was addressing a crowd in Laikipia County on Saturday October 9, stated that he controls the region and that his opponents are only playing catch up when he is already strides ahead.
He claimed that his massive following stems from myriad of development projects that he has initiated in the region over time.
“I hear that my opponents have finally realized that Mt Kenya region exists. They have in the recent past been making efforts to climb the mountain because now the presidential elections is beckoning.
“Let them know that some of us have been here since time immemorial. While they were away I was building churches, roads, TVETS and connecting electricity. I wish to remind them that the mountain has its owners,” he said.
The Deputy President was accompanied by several leaders as he commissioned a multipurpose hall at the Nyahururu Primary School. Local leaders who spoke attacked Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi, who recently played host to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
They claimed that the county head had committed political suicide by associating with the former premier.
