By , July 9, 2026

Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri has expressed confidence that the United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) intensive campaigns in Ol Kalou will deliver victory in the upcoming parliamentary by-election.

Using his Facebook account on Thursday, July 9, 2026, Kiunjuri urged UDA supporters to maintain the momentum until polling day.

“We have walked this journey together, we have listened to your hearts, and now the finish line is in sight. Let’s keep this incredible momentum burning bright right up to polling day. Kushinda nayo hatubahatishi, nĩgũshaina na Muchina,” Kiunjuri said.

UDA intensifies campaigns

Kiunjuri’s remarks come as UDA has deployed senior leaders to Ol Kalou in a final push to retain the seat amid stiff competition from the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).

The constituency has witnessed a flurry of high-profile political activity in recent days, with Cabinet Secretaries, Members of Parliament and other senior government officials holding rallies and empowerment programmes as campaigns enter the final stretch.

The race has increasingly been portrayed by both UDA and DCP as an early test of political strength in the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The Ol Kalou contest has attracted national attention, with both camps presenting it as more than a constituency election.

While UDA leaders have expressed confidence that the government’s development agenda will resonate with voters, opposition leaders have argued that the by-election will serve as a referendum on the region’s political direction.

Political analysts have also described the contest as one that could influence narratives around Mt Kenya politics ahead of the 2027 elections.

Kiunjuri maintained that UDA supporters should remain focused until polling day, expressing optimism that the party’s sustained grassroots campaigns would be rewarded at the ballot.
