MP Kibagendi asks Sifuna-allied MPs to join forces with opposition

Kitutu Chache South Member of Parliament Antony Kibagendi has urged his fellow Kenya Moja MPs to team up with other opposition leaders in the run-up to 2027.

While speaking during a church service in Donholm on Sunday, August 24, 2025, the MP called on the Sifuna-led team, who love identifying themselves as Kenya Moja, which includes Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, to work together with key opposition figures such as Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, and other senior leaders in order to seize power in 2027.

He argued that for them to defeat the current government, which he accused of bribery and corruption, they must unite. He specifically appealed to leaders such as Kimilu, Sifuna, Wamuchomba, and others to bring together all opposition forces, such as Natembeya, Kalonzo, Gachagua, and Fred Matiang’i, in order to rally Kenyans behind a united front.

This comes at a time when the group, identifying themselves as Kenya Moja, have been holding meetings in different parts of the country.

Their first political event was in Kabuchai, where they contributed funds toward women’s empowerment initiatives, followed by another meeting in Saboti.

They later accompanied Babu Owino to an event in Donholm and are now scheduled to attend a similar function in Teso on August 30, 2025.

“For us to beat the current government ambayo Inaiba na ku bribe kenyans, lazima truncate, na ndio namuomba mheshimiwa kimilu, mheshimiwa sifuna, wamuchomba, na wengine wote ambao wako hapa, nawaomba mwalete pamoja ndugi yetu Natembeya, Kalonzo Gachagua, Fred Matiang’i, viongozi wote wa upinzani ili tuungankshe wakenya wote,” Kibagendi stated.

Wamuchomba’s take

However, Gathoni Wamuchomba, a member of the team, has previously dismissed claims that they are working toward forming a coalition.

She explained that the name ‘Kenya Moja’ reflects the group’s diversity, as they come from different regions across the country.

She clarified that their focus is not on creating a political coalition but on providing interventions and solutions to the challenges Kenyans are currently facing.

“We are not caucusing so as to form a political party; we are caucusing so that we provide interventions and solutions to problems that Kenyans are going through now,” Wamuchomba stated
