Sifuna leads Kenya Moja MPs in consultative talks
On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna led a group of Kenya Moja Members of Parliament in a consultative meeting.
Those in attendance included Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Anthony Kibagendi, and Saboti MP Caleb Amisi.
Although the team is yet to come out and inform the public of the outcomes of their meeting, the youthful legislators were seen in deep discussion, with moments of laughter captured during the session.
The team leader, Edwin Sifuna, has come out through his socials to issue an update saying that he was just catching up with his colleagues.
“Catching up with my colleagues Hon. Wamuchomba, Hon. Babu Owino, Hon. Caleb Amisi and Hon. Anthony Kibagendi this afternoon,” Sifuna stated.
The group have been traversing the country running empowerment programmes in their respective constituencies, in a manner that rivals similar initiatives championed by President Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki. Their activities began in Bumula, where they contributed towards projects spearheaded by MP Majimbo Kalasinga. They later moved to Saboti in support of Caleb Amisi and are now scheduled to visit Busia in Teso on August 31, 2025.

The contributions and mobilisation efforts have been coordinated by Edwin Sifuna, with him often assuming the event MC role. Through these forums, the team has consistently reaffirmed its political stance on the current administration. Led by the Nairobi senator, they have pledged to collaborate with any leader who shares their vision of limiting President William Ruto to a single term in office.

The recent move by the so-called Kenya Moja MPs has drawn praise and criticism in equal measure, with political analysts such as Herman Manyora coming out to take swipes at the activities of the above leaders.
Manyora’s advice
This comes a day after Manyora cautioned the team against participating in such initiatives, telling them to concentrate entirely on their oversight role rather than empowerment forums.
Speaking during an interview on his channel on Monday, August 11, 2025, Manyora criticised leaders like Sifuna and Amisi for engaging in empowerment programmes, which he views as counterproductive.
“You saw Caleb Amisi Sifuna and the rest trying empowerment programmes. How can you compete, Kina Farouk? You have been saying it’s the wrong thing, and then you go and do it again. You can’t do it right. This country should avoid the idea of giving handouts to people. People don’t need handouts,” Manyora stated.
