Mount Kenya Foundation set to meet OKA principals days after endorsing Raila
The Mount Kenya Foundation has announced that it is set to hold a luncheon with One Kenya Alliance principals on Thursday October 7,2021.
The luncheon comes after an earlier postponement of a similar meeting that was slated for Friday October 1, 2021.
In the invitation card seen by the People Daily Digital, the Foundation’s Vice Chairman Titus K. Ibui invited members to the Safari Park Hotel meeting that is to start at 12 Noon.
“Your input in the consultations towards Mount Kenya region’s position and stake in the next government will be greatly appreciated,” the letter read in part.
The group encompasses several rich businessmen from the Central Kenya region who are doing well in the corporate world.
It is led by former Equity Bank chairman Peter Munga, former Kenya Revenue Authority Commissioner General Michael Waweru and former Kenya Airports Authority chairman George Muhoho among other notable names.
Mount Kenya Foundation plays a key role in every electioneering period as they help to mobilize funds to support presidential candidates from the region.
On September 25, 2021 the group endorsed the presidential candidature of ODM leader Raila Odinga. It announced that they will be holding series of meetings with prospective presidential candidates in the Uhuru succession politics before settling on their preferred candidate.
Inside sources have divulged to People Daily Digital that the tycoons will not meet Deputy President William Ruto, who is also eyeing the top seat in 2022. The group will end their series of engagements with the OKA coalition before sending their resolution to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
