Morara Kebaso denies joining coalition after attending Karua’s party launch

INJECT party leader Morara Kebaso has denied reports of joining a political coalition, a day after he attended the rebranding ceremony of Martha Karua’s People’s Liberation Party (PLP).
In a statement on Friday, February 28, 2025, Kebaso however hinted that he would be ready for a discussion on a political alliance, but when the right time comes.
The self-styled political activist says he will not form a coalition with corrupt politicians, insisting that any coalition he joins should have the youth agenda on the table.
“INJECT Party has not joined any coalition. However, we are ready for that discussion when the time comes. We believe, the unity of leaders should not just be for political power, but should be based on shared values of integrity and true desire for change in our country,” Kebaso stated.
“We find it very difficult to unite with anyone who is corrupt. Moreover, the youth agenda must be on the table. Jobs and opportunities.”
Karua’s party launch
Morara was among several opposition figures who attended Karua’s party launch including Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa.
The formation of PLP comes amid growing efforts by Karua, Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Wamalwa to forge a strong alliance ahead of the 2027 general election. Their objective is to mount a formidable challenge against President William Ruto’s administration.
The group has been holding a series of meetings to solidify their support, particularly in the Mount Kenya region, where Gachagua has been actively consolidating his political base. Karua and Gachagua have met at least twice in public in recent weeks.
