Buuri Member of Parliament (MP) Mugambi Rindikiri has praised President William Ruto for picking Kithure Kindiki as the country’s third DP.

Speaking on Sunday, October 5, 2025, during Ruto’s visit to Igembe Central, the lawmaker urged the president to follow up on the gesture by endorsing the now DP to take over the country’s leadership mantle when he completes his term in office.

“I want to urge the president that in 2032, he leaves it for Kindiki to succeed him as the president of Kenya,” he implored.

The legislator chastised Kindiki’s predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, for failing in his mandate prior to his impeachment.

“When Ruto gave the other person the role of the DP, his job was spending time on TikTok and not working. The president needed a worker, and he chose one of our own in Kindiki,” he stated.

Sentiments of Kindiki’s choice for DP were also reinforced by Senate Deputy Speaker Murungi Kathuri, who lauded his nationalistic approach.

“When you gave us the DP in Kindiki, we were content. He embodies what a national leader should be as a representative of people from all regions,” he stated.

The remarks on Kindiki come after MPs from the region vowed to stand by Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza government.

Speaking at the same function, the lawmakers affirmed their support for Ruto, vowing to rally behind his quest for a second term.

The MPs cited the various development projects achieved under the current regime and Ruto’s choice of Kindiki as the third Deputy President as a factor in their support.

Two terms

“We are not the type that gets carried away with wind. We are firmly behind your government. We told the one-term brigade to find another place for their politics, since here in Igembe we have two terms for the president,” Igembe Central MP Daniel Kiili affirmed.

On his part, the South Imenti MP praised Ruto’s leadership as one anchored on the Bible. He vowed to stay put with the Kenyan Kwanza leaders.

“We, the people of South Imenti, are firmly behind two terms for Ruto and long-term for Kindiki,” he said.
