Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has dismissed remarks by former Health Minister Charity Ngilu that former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka would beat William Ruto in the 2027 polls.

Taking to his X page on Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Ruto-loyalist belittled the opposition figurehead’s electoral prospects, asserting that Kalonzo would struggle to defeat lesser-known figures like George Wajackoyah or Peter Salasya in an election.

He further mocked Ngilu’s tenure as a Cabinet Secretary, claiming that her constituents’ only encounter the essential liquid while Ngilu visited the region with bottled water.

“I have seen Charity Kaluki Ngilu, the Ngilu who was Minister for Water and Irrigation from April 2008 to 2013, and the only water the people of Ukambani saw during that time was the bottled water she used to drink while visiting Ukambani, claim that Kalonzo can beat WSR in an election

“Kalonzo cannot even beat Wajackoya or Peter Salaysa ,” he stated.

His sentiments come a few days after the Wiper Patriotic Front leader reaffirmed intentions to go all out and contest the presidency in the coming 2027 polls.

Going all out for presidency

Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Kalonzo firmly ruled out the possibility of serving as a running mate.

He insisted that his political focus is fixed on leading the country, not backing someone else.

“I don’t think I would be a running mate in 2027. I will tell you why. Some of my supporters, a majority of them, and that is why this administration is vexed with the dream that Kalonzo Musyoka will join Kenya Kwanza; the bloggers are on a full-scale mandate to make it happen, but I tell them, ‘Please stop wasting your time.’ It is too late for any games to be played against me,” Kalonzo remarked.

Made sacrifices

Kalonzo stressed that his political journey had been defined by sacrifice, but this time, he would not settle for less than the top seat.

“In my entire personality, I have sacrificed, but I can’t sacrifice enough for this country. We have a higher idea of getting this nation back to its feet, and if that be the case, I pray to God my colleagues will see it,” Kalonzo pointed out.
