Mark Mwenje: Let Kioni tell us whose interests he is serving
Embakasi West Member of Parliament Mark Mwenje has challenged Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni to reveal who sent him to criticise opposition leaders.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Mwenje said that by attacking the persona of Democracy for Citizens’ Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua, Kioni appeared to be acting on behalf of unknown forces.
He added that former President Uhuru Kenyatta cannot be the one behind Kioni’s statements since the Jubilee Party leader had not authorised any attacks on opposition figures.

Elsewhere,Nakuru DCP’s Secretary General Sangale called Kioni over his remarks about Gachagua.
Uhuru not involved
Mwenje said the comments made by Kioni were not reflective of the party’s official position.
He insisted that Uhuru Kenyatta had remained focused on rebuilding Jubilee and had not uttered any words aimed at disparaging other parties.
“Jeremiah Kioni should tell us whose interests he is serving by criticising the leadership of the other opposition parties since our leader, Uhuru Kenyatta, has not sent him to do that.
“At the moment, we are focused on rebuilding our party and not fighting our friends,” said Mwenje.

The MP stressed that Jubilee did not endorse anyone as a presidential candidate during its National Delegates Convention held on September 26, 2025.
According to him, their main agenda is revamping the party in readiness for the 2027 General Election.

Focus on unity
Mwenje revealed that Uhuru Kenyatta had encouraged the youth to take over Jubilee’s leadership while emphasising unity with political allies.
He cautioned Kioni against making statements that could fracture the opposition.
“Let me ask Kioni to desist from making remarks that will drive a rift between Jubilee Party and our friends in the other opposition parties since that is not our agenda at all, we do not have a Presidential candidate yet, we are going to choose one at the right time,” he said.
Mwenje’s remarks now deepen the rift within Jubilee as questions mount over Kioni’s recent political messaging.
